The unique lighting technology is based on the research of Dr. John Nash Ott. Dr.Ott is a photobiologist and pioneer in light research. Through 40 years of research he discovered the effects that wavelengths of natural light have on all living things.

The beauty of this light is that it makes seeing everything easy. The high contrast, low heat and low glare light reduces eye strain and makes reading or close up work more comfortable. Energy efficient light bulbs are included with each lamp and rated to last up to 10,000 hours. Dr. Ott first brought natural daylight indoors through his research and experiments. One experiment was his work with Walt Disney to record the growth of a pumpkins through time-lapse photography. The footage was then used by Disney animators to draw the transformation of Cinderalla's pumpkin into a carriage.

Dr.Ott was faced with the challenge of growing the pumpkins indoors. He had to formulate indoors, the specific outdoor light necessary for the pumpkins to be able to produce both males and females, as is natural for them to do. Under some lighting conditions, only male plants grew, but no females. The lights were adjusted and then only females were produced, but no males. After several experiments Dr. Ott was able to provide the proper range of light wavelengths to successfully grow the pumpkin indoors, thereby successfully bringing indoors the quality of natural daylight.
