Sewing Without Thread highlights the options that are available for attaching fabrics without the use of a machine, or thread.  These products can be faster and unnoticed

Sewing without thread is an option. The assortment of threads we have to choose from are  fun and wonderful.  But that's totally a different topic.  Let's talk about an option we have, but most probably forget about or are not aware of, sewing without  thread.  Sounds weird doesn't it.  Yet it's true.  We have lots of choices to help make our sewing projects go faster, easier and unnoticed.

The following are the sewing without thread options:

FRAY CHECK sealant is a colorless plastic liquid designed to prevent fraying and reinforces the edges of woven fabrics.  In small areas use this instead of over edging or zigzagging the edges of the fabric.    Also
for edges of ribbons and lace.  It will secure and strengthen button threads and reinforces buttons.  Works great on pantyhose.  This sewing without thread option will not discolor or stain most fabrics.  Be sure to test first.  When first opening the bottle use a straight pin to puncture a hole in the tip instead of cutting the tip, as very little is needed.

STITCH WITCHERY
This is a fusible bonding web that permanently bonds two layers of fabric together when pressed by a steam iron.  It is available in black and white and is washable and can be dry cleaned.  It comes in various weights in order to suit your particular fabric. Ultra light, Regular and Super weights. A hem for any sewing project can be bonded without thread using Stitch Witchery.  Ribbons and trims can be easily attached without sewing.   Try it on straps and belts.  Sewing without thread is sew easy!

TACKYFUSE

This is a paper backed fusible adhesive that will hold your items in position until ironed.  It will become permanent once ironed.  This one is a must for sewing without threads on fabrics and crafts.  Easily fuses fabric, ribbon, lace and trims to fabric.

RES-Q TAPE

This is a double sided clear adhesive tape that will cling to skin, fabric, paper and leather and leaves no sticky residue.  This sewing without thread method is for a temporary use like some type of emergency repair on a garment or article or person.  For example, a shoulder pad or a strap becomes loose, use Res-Q Tape as a quick fix.  Also great for basting instead of using pins.  Since this tape is temporary you should remove it before washing and dry cleaning and don't sew through it.
INNERFUSE

This is a double sided stiff fusible interfacing.  This interfacing has fusible adhesive on both sides for completing projects quickly.  This no sew alternative provides both stiffness and flexibility.  Works on both fabric and paper.   Available in medium or heavy weight.  Works great for fabric bowls, boxes, vases, purses, hats, place mats, lampshades, window decor, paper projects and scrap booking.

SPRAY ADHESIVE

This is a temporary spray used to bond fabric or paper.  You can eliminate basting and pinning.  It is odorless, colorless and acid free.  It will not gum up your sewing machine needles.
